‘XXX 3’ Begins Shooting This December Says Vin Diesel

Yup, that's right! Even though Sony Pictures has not confirm it's even happening, Vin Diesel seems to think his long awaited return as Xander Cage is shooting before the end of this year. So, it sounds like production starts on the action sequel before Fast & Furious 8, which already has a set release date of April 2017. Though, at this point, absolutely nothing else about the movie has been confirmed. Vin Diesel seems like a reliable source, but sometimes, even the actors get it wrong. Perhaps he's being over enthusiastic. It's happened before.

Vin Diesel is slowly but surly becoming the king of franchises. Not only does he have another xXx and Fast & Furious lined-up, he has already announced the sequel The Last Witch Hunter 2 for 2018. And he's said in the past that Universal Pictures is very serious about making Riddick 4. There is no question that the actor is one of the biggest action stars on the planet. But we don't have to worry about where he'll go next. He also has another franchise in the planning stages with the tv-to-movie adaptation of Kojak, which has been in the works, perhaps, longer than XXX 3.

Vin Diesel Confirms His Return in ‘XXX 3’

While doing press for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vin Diesel, confirmed that the long-gestating project XXX: The Return of Xander Cage is finally happening. However, it won't materialize right away, since the actor will next move on to The Last Witch Hunter alongside Rose Leslie and Michael Caine for director Breck Eisner, and then Universal's Kojak before the XXX sequel, which will be partially shot in the Philippines.

We haven't heard anything regarding the Kojak reboot since December 2012, when the actor was cast as the title character, originally portrayed by Telly Savalas in the TV series of the same name that ran from 1973 to 1978. The series followed the exploits of New York detective Theo Kojak, who was often seen with his signature lollipop while working cases. Our original report revealed that Skyfall writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were working on the script, although it isn't known if a director is attached at this time. Vin Diesel himself revealed that he wants Ang Lee to direct the reboot, but it isn't known if he was ever offered the job by Universal.
