As we all know America was attacked on 9/11 2001. Over 3,000 innocent people were murdered by terrorists. The WTC was destroyed, and nearly everyone in the world was watching...
Directly after the attacks, many news programs began mentioning Osama Bin Laden. A radical Islamist Taliban fighter who preached Anti-Americanism and had great influence in the Muslim world. Come to find out, Osama Bin Laden was considered by not only the Media community, but also the Intelligence community as the strategist behind the WTC attacks...
As a result of 9/11 and the arrogance of Osama Bin Laden, America decided to get its hands dirty as well.
Zero Dark Thirty is a story of what America, and its intelligence communities has to do to collect information, locate terrorists, and get leads on Osama Bin Laden.
It shows how we had to implement torture to obtain information. By torture I mean 'water-boarding', fear tactics, psychological warfare, and corporal punishment...
For some Americans it is a brutal sight to see, even for a movie that is only 'based' on true events, but for some Americans it is very cathartic to see Kathryn Bigelow's film.
A majority of the film simply shows the methods and steps taken by the C.I.A to gather intelligence. The latter part of the film, is where the true catharsis comes in. We the viewers witness the raid of Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan by Seal Team Six...
The story of this film is engaging as it is based on true events, the acting is superb and Jessica Chastain really shines as the "agent whose obsessed with catching Osama", the directing is marvelous, and the visuals are amazing and very realistic.
This film is very intelligent and gritty. I loved it, and I believe it will make an Oscar run much like Bigelow's last big film The Hurt Locker did.
Kathryn Bigelow did a swell job in recreating the events that led to Bin Laden's capture.
It is amazing to know that she directed Point Break which is a cult-classic, and now she is doing Oscar winning films with some very sensitive material. She has definitely upped her filmmaking skills, and I applaud her, the Studio, and her crews for making a very awesome film.
