The new trailer for Paramount Pictures' Zoolander 2 has broken the record to become the most successful comedy trailer launch of all time. The trailer, which debuted online on November 18 and offers fans a sneak peek at the highly anticipated sequel to 2001's Zoolander, reached 52.2 million views in its first week of release. The sequel centers on Derek (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson), who are recruited by Montana Grosso (Penélope Cruz) to stop a deadly killer, who is targeting the most beautiful people in the world. As you may recall, the first trailer didn't actually feature any footage from Zoolander 2, merely showing Derek Zoolander getting confused about various versions of the sequel's title. Perhaps these posters could be leading up to the next trailer, but Paramount hasn't confirmed when we may see new footage. Ben Stiller has been regularly revealing new cast members for his comedy sequel Zoolander 2 through his social media pages ever since shooting began last month. Today the actor/writer/director/producer shared a new photo on his Instagram page, featuring his character Derek Zoolander staring down pop star Justin Bieber, who has joined the cast. The musician's role has yet to be revealed, so it's possible that he could be playing himself in a cameo, or he could also be portraying a blue steel rival of Derek's.
Regardless of who Justin Bieber is playing, he joins a cast that also includes Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor, Penélope Cruz, Cyrus Arnold, Billy Zane, Fred Armisen, Kyle Mooney, Kristen Wiig and Olivia Munn. The sequel will mark Justin Bieber's first major movie role, although he did have an uncredited part in last year's Behaving Badly, which starred his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
