The world-leading game designer, Allegra Geller (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is testing her latest virtual reality game when she is attacked by an eXistenZ protesting assasin with a bizarre weapon that severely damages Allegra's game pod, a plug that interfaces the player's nervous system via a bioport.
Allegra is whisked away by Ted Pikul (Jude Law) and a chase ensues, directly into the game - where the forces of Anti-eXistenZialism close in on Allegra and Pikul.
