According to Variety, MTV Films wants to belong to Adult World and is negotiating to buy tyro writer Andrew Cochran's comedy spec script and set it up with Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa via their Bona Fide Prods. shingle.

The tale revolves around a Stanford coed who feels she's destined to be a poet and winds up working as a clerk in a mom-and-pop adult bookstore.

MTV Films exec veep David M. Gale and senior VP Loretha Jones will oversee the project. The pic will be distributed by Paramount.

Cochran, 23, has signed a blind script deal with MTV. The Tulane U. grad told Daily Variety the idea for Adult World grew out of the difficulties faced by collegians in dealing with the real world.

Berger and Yerxa previously produced Election and The Wood for Paramount and MTV. Berger and Yerxa also have been producers on "King of the Hill," Crumb and Cold Mountain along with the upcoming Ice Harvest and Bee Season.
