It is becoming tedious as each film revolves around adventurers who risk their lives by entering ancient Egyptian pyramids in search of riches, thereby unleashing disaster on the world. Mummies is an upcoming Spanish animated film directed by Juan Jesus Garcia Galocha that offers a fresh take on an adventure to fans of animated movies. Mummies: The Plot

A city of mummies, also known as the city of the living dead, exists deep within the earth, where the Sun does not shine. As the imperial decrees are absolute, it is time for Princess Nefer to choose her groom, and the Phoenix, guided by her hand, chooses Thut, a former charioteer, as is customary. However, neither of them is interested in marrying one other, so Thut devises a plan to hide the wedding ring, which has been passed on by their ancestors, in a safe place where nobody except him can get to it.

On the other side of the story, an archeologist discovers the ring while exploring the mysterious pyramids linked to the underground city of mummies. Unfortunately, the consequences for the groom losing the wedding ring are severe. When Thut discovers that his ring has mysteriously vanished, he teams up with his younger brother Sekhem, his pet crocodile, and Nefer to track it down. During their time in modern London, Thut and Nefer will make an unforeseen leap forward —falling in love with each other.

"The film follows the fun adventures of three Egyptian mummies who live in an underground secret city, hidden in ancient Egypt. The trio includes a princess, a former charioteer, and his younger brother along with their pet baby crocodile. Through a series of unfortunate events, the mummies end up in present-day London and embark on a wacky and hilarious journey in search of an old ring belonging to the Royal Family, that was stolen by the ambitious archaeologist Lord Carnaby."

In accordance with the storyline, the film will emphasize comedic elements while gradually building up the romance to provide us with a happy ending. Furthermore, it provides a lot of room for adventure, and the depiction of Egyptian history appears exceptionally beautiful.

Mummies features a cast of well-known voice actors, including Oscar Barberan as Thut, the male lead character, and Ana Esther Alborg as Nefer, the female lead character. Oscar Barberan's voice acting contributions in Tad: The Lost Explorer and the Secret of King Midas, Toy Story 2, and Tad: The Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet are all critically acclaimed, despite his limited career over the past two decades. In contrast, The Living Forest was Ana Esther Alborg's debut film as a voice actress. Thereafter, she rose to prominence with her performances in the Harry Potter video games, particularly in Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows - Part 2.

Other major characters, including Sekhem, Pharaoh, Lord Carnaby, and Aida, have been voiced by the following actors: Jaume Sola (Com si fos ahir), Juan Carlos Gustems (Virtual Hero), Luis Perez Reina, and Roser Aldabo Arnau. While these actors are in charge of the Spanish dubbing, the English voice actors are carefully picked. Eleanor Tomlinson (Loving Vincent) provides the voice of Nefer and Joe Thomas (Doctor Who: The Eight Doctor Adventures) voices Thut. The English voices of the supporting cast are provided by Santiago Wonder (Sekhem), Sean Bean (Pharaoh), and Hugh Bonneville (Lord Carnaby).

The film is directed by Juan Jesus Garcia Galocha, an experienced director who has created short animated films such as The Witch, Tad: The Lost Explorer, and Strings. Meanwhile, Jordi Gasull and Javier Lopez Barreira will oversee the story and screenplay. Both have previously worked on Tad: The Lost Explorer, Capture the Flag, and Secret of King Midas, and we can expect positive results from the script and screenplay departments based on the success of those projects. Mummies will be released in theaters in the United States and Spain on February 24 and in the United Kingdom and Ireland on March 31.

The film was initially scheduled to be released in 2021 under the title Moomios through a collaboration between Atresmedia Cine and Warner Bros. Pictures, but it was later delayed. The film was renamed Mummies after two years of extended production and will soon be available in theaters for fans of animated movies.
