Elle Fanning is in negotiations to star in director Nicolas Winding Refn's new project The Neon Demon. The actress will play an aspiring model who, "is caught in a world of beauty and demise" in this female-driven horror-thriller. Here's what Nicolas Winding Refn had to say about bringing Elle Fanning on board.

"Elle Fanning is a super cool wonder woman and I look forward to going on a terrifying trip with her into The Neon Demon."

We first reported on The Neon Demon back in November, when financiers/distributors Gaumont and Wild Bunch teamed up to provide financing. The story will be set in Los Angeles, with a cast comprised of young female actors. Nicolas Winding Refn will direct from a script he co-wrote with newcomer Mary Laws, with production scheduled to begin this coming March in Los Angeles.

The director will also produce with his longtime partner Lene Børglum (Valhalla Rising, Only God Forgives) through their Space Rocket production company. Elle Fanning most recently starred in Maleficent, Low Down, Young Ones, and also lent her voice to The Boxtrolls. She will next be seen in Live by Night alongside Ben Affleck, Zoe Saldana and Sienna Miller.
