A brand new viral site has been launched for the upcoming Roland Emmerich film, 2012, which hits theaters on November 13. You can log on to the site at InstituteForHumanContinuity.org.

The Institute, which is featured in the film, is charged with the task of ensuring the human race will survive after the supposedly-cataclysmic events that happen in December 2012 and will wipe out most of civilization. On this site you can learn about what the Institute does, read press releases from the Institute and their many Initiatives and you can even "register" for the survival lottery that will apparently ensure you will live past the year 2012.

2012 revolves a family who goes on vacation in December 2012, just as the Mayan calendar is coming to a close. Over the decades, many have prophesized that the world will end when the ancient calendar ceases on Dec. 21, 2012.
