According to Variety, New Line Cinema has closed a $6 million deal to distribute Running Scared, a crime drama starring Paul Walker, with Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) directing his script.

New Line also is in early talks on Kramer's next pic, The Sleeping Detective. That drama, put in turnaround by Paramount, has Bruce Willis attached to play a narcoleptic private eye hired to track down the California governor's daughter, whose disappearance is linked to a long-ago murder. The Kramer-scripted drama has a tentative May start date.

In Running Scared, Walker plays a low-level mobster who, in order to save his family, must recover a gun used in a mob hit before it's found by his bosses or the cops.

Talk of releasing Running Scared may come after the July 15th bow of the John Stockwell-directed Into the Blue, the MGM diving drama that stars Walker and Jessica Alba. Walker just signed to star in the Disney pic Antarctica.
