According to The Hollywood Reporter, New Line Cinema has preemptively bought an untitled project from writer Brad Copeland. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing via Mandeville Films and Television.

Details are being kept under wraps, but the project is being described as a high-concept buddy comedy with a romantic element. Copeland has developed a good comedic track record during the past few years. As a writer-producer on Arrested Development, he was twice-nominated for an Emmy and now is a supervising producer/writer on NBC's hit My Name Is Earl. On the feature side, he wrote Wild Hogs, to which Walt Becker recently boarded to direct, as well as Corporate Retreat. Both comedies are at Disney.
