New ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer 'Fate of Your Planet'

Earlier today we got a new cryptic message from General Zod over at the official Man of Steel website which was obviously a precursor to tonight's brand new trailer entitled, "Fate of Your Planet". The new trailer reveals more of what General Zod has in store Superman and the planet Earth in general, in the new movie. Check it out.

In Man of Steel, a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Man of Steel was released June 14th, 2013.

@the-movieghost Maybe it was used for one the Nolan-Batman movies ? I'm just guessing on that though.

This might be a long shot, but does anyone know the music used in this trailer? Specifically the stuff that plays around one minute in.

@ejk1 the trailers make me believe this is nothing like Superman1 or 2. The Origin is similiar yet different in that Kal-El is not genetically enhanced like other kryptonians. We see more of Krypton and the feud that lead to Zod and Jor-Els falling out. We see that they wont have their powers as soon as they get to earth because their bodies cannot take the intensity of the Sun, thus the suits with the helmets. Other than Zod being the villain and parts of the origin, there isnt much meshing in this movie.

@ejk1 Of course there are elements that are familiar given the themes of Superman we already know. Beyond that point of familiarity, the slate appears to have been wiped totally clean by comparison. But those two movies, at least certain themes, work well for a starting point. It establishes the hero and brings him to the light of where he belongs in the world.

@c-a-r-t-m-a-n Hellboy is not a part of the Marvel or DC universe, it's a Dark Horse Comic. Although he has crossed over with Batman once or twice. A lot of the titles Marvel have aren't as hype as they're made out to be. Several of the earlier titles were experimental and held no rank in the Phase One platform. Batman was experimental to the DC Universe as well if you truly look at the rebooted franchise in terms of establishing a tone. Green Lantern wasn't the success they banked on so fittingly, Man of Steel marks the beginning of their "Phase One" projects. And from the looks of it they have a strong start if they can keep it consistent. It really doesn't matter who started the wave first, it only matters where they ultimately end up. Remember, Phase One or not, some of the Marvel films left much to be desired as well.

@zeus I agree as far as the teaming of these three masterminds being able to pull off something of epic proportions that can possibly trump anything before it and force a re-evaluation as Batman Begins once did, with how these movies will be approached in the future. As far the great lengths this movie appears to have gone, a follow up has to be brilliantly crafted to maintain the pace rather than slow it and fall flat. There's a wealth of material they can exploit to keep the element of excitement and engaging story telling in tact. This can very well change the game up with the start of this franchise.

Nice trailer. Still feels like a mesh between Superman and Superman 2, though.

@cartman I agree with you mate but iM talking in regards to MOS opening doors to a whole new world for DC, marvel has gone far very true and unfortnately we have a while to go and so thats where my confidence on MOS lies and over talk

@zeus Marvel has gone way too ahead, Batman series is the only hit in DC universe coz of CN brilliance. Marvel has Wolverine, Ironman, Spiderman, Hulk, Blade, Hellboy, Captain America, Thor, Avengers... more to come. Dont say DC will kick ass of marvel without proving nothing. Lets say MOS does well - so you have Batman and Superman in the success note, just 2 characters from the entire DC Universe. Marvel is kicking DCs ass right left and center, try to catch up without over talk..

I just havent been able to comment on MOS since and on anything else, cause im not one to keep writing down my views but i really should as a member. Going back to MOS, all i can say is this has been an emotional ride for me, waiting to see the Don DADA return and there is not much to comment but only he will kick every marvel movie franchise ass all over the place. With the writings of David S Goyer, production of Chris Nolan and visionary cgi/special effects directing of Zack Snyder, what can go wrong, and you guys know when David S Goyer wants to write something brilliant, he will(thats for those who hated BLADE 3).

@Mieko_Siede I think we may see like the batman franchise: ZOD, Lex then Doomsday, with a mixture of other heroes and villians, through out a possible trilogy or Justice league movie.

WOW!!! This looks like a glorious achievement bringing Superman along on the scale the platform deserves. By far the movie appears to have all the elements to make even a non-fan salivate for more. This looks huge. It's already apparent that it is going to be paced and set up in stages for a grand epic finale. The only question now is, pending its success where do the go from there? What's left for a sequel to follow in hopes to better its predecessor? Or is it that the next lane to travel for the franchise is to jump right into the Justice League movie to increase a promisingly grand franchise? I could see following this the remnants left behind from the Kryptonian onslaught bringing about Doomsday. Something like that, much like it unfolded in the comic book, could bring the League members from their separate tasks together as a ravenously hulking beast rampages across a nation. The coming of Superman allows for other beings to be revealed as the question was once asked in a trailer, "How would the world react if they knew there was someone like him among them?". It doesn't have to be Doomsday mind you. It just leaves the impression that something big is set on the horizon to follow this. It's really the only way to go.

@Bill-Louis Regardless to the action and pacing suggested in this movie...From the scope alone, the depth of it, Man of Steel still looks nothing like a Marvel movie. It looks like a grander version of a tone that DC had long set out to establish to stand apart from Marvel films that could draw the same commercial success if not eclipse it.

The best teaser so far. I love what I'm seeing. I hope this lives up to the hipe of itself and can take it's place besides Superman I & II.

@phatalphd very well said. Thanks for the reply. I know there are die hard DC fans just like there are die hard MARVEL fans with a rivalry that's older then I am. I just enjoy good movies with very good story telling and action comedy that doesn't look like it was hard work just to be funny. I only bet the farm on one movie and that was the avengers that's only because I seen and loved all the other phase one movies and knew it was leading to that. Now if MOS does become a movie just as great as the dark knight movies and they made a flash movie, a rebooted green lantern movie, and continued the dark knight movies with joseph gordon levitt as the new batman ( maybe calling it the batman) with cameos of Martian Manhunter Wonder Woman green arrow and aqua man in some of though's movies and they all were great movies then did a justice league movie you could not stop me from seeing that justice league movie. I would bet the farm on that.
