Mushroom Village has our first look at the upcoming big screen CGI feature The Smurfs. To get a look at some of the animatics and character designs, check out the photos, as well as video, below:

The Smurfs originated in 1958 as a Belgian comic strip from Peyo (Pierre) Culliford. NBC launched The Smurfs in 1981, spawning 256 episodes and multiple Emmy awards. The feature film will be 3-D and CG-animated.

The Smurfs will be released later this year.
