The cast and filmmakers of
Edge of Darkness have a very big hole to fill after a recent departure. According to
Variety, Robert De Niro has walked away from his role on
Edge of Darkness after being on the set for less than a week.
"Sometimes things don't work out, it's called creative differences," explained a spokesman for the actor.
De Niro was set to star alongside Mel Gibson, as a special-ops agent sent in to clean up the evidence of a young woman's murder. Gibson is portraying the woman's father, a Boston detective who discovers his daughter's hidden life.
The film, which Martin Campbell is directing from a William Monaghan script, just started filming in Massachusetts on August 18. It was said that they will shoot around De Niro's role until his replacement is cast.
