It seems that Tobey Maguire might be seeing a familiar face on the set of his next Peter Parker adventure. According to
Variety, Gary Ross has been tapped to rewrite
Spider-Man 4.
Ross directed Maguire in both
Pleasantville and Best Picture nominee
Seabiscuit. Ross is rewriting the script that James Vanderbilt originally wrote and David Lindsay-Abaire rewrote, for Sam Raimi to direct. It was said that the sequel would go into production early next year.
It was also reported that Ross is rewriting and will direct a biopic on cyclist Lance Armstrong, who recently un-retired from cycling and vaulted into second place in the Tour de France this week.

I didn't mean to say it was Raimi's fault, Newkill, but he does take part in the writing and hiring the writers. He said that he was "relinquishing control" of the story after S-M3, so here's hoping he stuck to his word. The only element he wanted were he to return to direct S-M4 was to make Dylan Baker into The Lizard.
