It's Official: Ryan Reynolds Is the Green Lantern!

Source:  The Hollywood Reporter
Ryan Reynolds is the Green LanternA three-way casting race for the latest superhero movie has finally been decided. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds has officially won the role of Green Lantern.

It was reported earlier today that there was a three-way race for the role between Reynolds, Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake, but the trade is reporting that Jared Leto was also in contention for the role. Reynolds entered into negotiations for the role earlier today.

Reynolds will be the first actor to portray a film superhero for both Marvel and DC Comics film adaptations, with Reynolds portrayal earlier this year of Deadpool in Marvel's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

wow you are a pathetic person aren't you justifying yourself about how Reynolds will not be doing a deadpool movie hum well lets give your dumbass an example Sam Worthington is doing right now Clash of the Titans and he was doing or still is doing Avatar that's double duty so how do you think Reynolds can't perform double duty for both movies.OMFGness dude you really need to drop that fanboy shit too that shit is getting really annoying i guess you just want another person that you can talk down to to make yourself feel better. Hahahahhahaha well it isn't going to happen dude go do that to your chick if you have on i mean if your not a geek or anything i mean for someone who told me he takes his schooling very seriouss and is in front of the computer all the time. That says a lot about you maybe a geek with 4 glasses or something am i close or are you going to deny it because i'm right.

Dude, seriously, your just a sad fanboy who doesn't look past anything. With Reynolds doing Green Lantern, he will not be doing double duty with doing Deadpool at the same time. They said it was going to be a Blade 4 and guess what it never happened. You just buy into anything, don't you? Lol, you still probably believe in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. Instead of going on this tantrum, learn how to write english you dumb fuck.

newkill200 your still talkin your shit you don't have faith in anything man have some fucking peace of mind Deadpool will be made you can fucking smell it in the air and you know it you just don't wanna believe it.As matter of fact you just shut the fuck up when you're proven wrong blah blah blah.renodc areyou serious hahahahahahaha i mean Justin Timberlake OMG dude i can't believe that i mean heel no he would have fucked the movie up.Comrade i totally agree with you on that man Ultron straight up what thy need to do is hurry up and make the First Avenger:Captain America can't wait for that pretty lady with there to hit.And as of Shia Lebouf playin the Flash i like all your ideas u guys it sounds good but just remember they need someone who can bring the character to life to the t so if you guys think Shia Lebouf then bring it on he better do a good job.Delgren idk about Sam Worthington playing green lantern but what about Captain America i think that would be chill and sikness he's brought very good acting Sam Worthington hasn't dissapointed us in his acting yet so i think he would make an awsome Captain America i think that would be sikness. And you but something to mind as well Delgren i think the Punisher has had a shit load of crapy movies except for the first Punisher with Thomas Jane i think that one was more better than warzone what i would recomende is DC buying The Punisher and returing it into its rightful place i mean for Marvel to kill the Punisher how could you do that i never would have seen that coming.Well i said DC to buying thE Punisher due to the fact that look at the Marvel Movies compared to the DC movies i think DC movies have gotten more better reviews than Marvel DC will take the Punisher and turn it into a franchise with the right director and the right time if they give it another chance. And why not same worthington to play the Punisher give him that.Just spit ballin.

Am I dreaming or did I read that they actually considered Justin Timberlake? You've got to be kidding me.

Deadpool will be decent. Ryan Reynolds will be worth the ticket price alone. What they did in Wolverine was stupid, but the Deadpool movie won't be linked to it in anyway. It wuill be a stand alone movie, and dare i say.... better than Wolvie!

As for Le-Beowulf playing the Flash,... mmm, well i suppose. Only because im not sure who else could play the role. I'd like to see Richard Harris, i think he's really funny on the showm How i met your Mother. But he wouldn't be a big enough name.

SHIT!!!!!! Agent dude I agree with you, Shia needs to shave (look younger) and play flash, he could probably pull it off.

Ultron?... Anyway Ii think this dude is gonna be good, Rumor has it he'll play flash but I dont see how thats possible with him playing green lantern.

Ultron should be the villain in the Avengers movie

DP will suck anyway, Rad :P Did you see Wolverine?

I'm gonna throw something out there, I was thinking about it yesterday. It's a little off topic, but GL and Flash are both DC characters so...I think Shia LaBeouf could play the Flash...Wally West, preferably. He's no Barry Allen, but he has that wit to him that's perfect for Wally. He's a likable guy and I can actually see him in the uniform. Since Reynolds is now GL there's no way he can be Flash, so...there ya go.

I wonder what Marvel think of this. I don't mind that Reynolds is the Green Lantern, i think he will be pretty cool actually. But with signing on to play Deadpool also, it just seems very strange.

If Sinestro is in this, he'll most likely be a Green Lantern who mentors Hal. By the end of the movie, something will happen that turns him against the Corps setting him up as the villain for the sequel.

Geoff Johns' "Secret Origin" arc in GL is a good starting point.

Well, technically the second suit doesn't come into existence until after Steve Rogers dies (That's Captain America II), but I get what you're saying.

Lol well I meant body wise, and that picture is kinda over the top his chest isn't THAT big lol. I was more thinking this is how most people see Captain America: http://i32.tinypic.com/2he8y1j.jpg
Btw that actor's face looks perfect (Jason Lewis?)

I would like to see newer upgraded versions of him too if they don't go with the old school look. Here are some interesting costume designs I think would make him look more modern. Like maybe have him in the old school costume back in WW2, and then have him change into something more modern more "Tony Stark"-ish lol like these two images below

Except pro wrestlers can't act, and what you're decribing would end up looking like this: http://www.sequentialtart.com/archive/july00/images/0700/bb_1.jpg.

Look, characters like James Bond are open to interpretation, because it's about the attitude less than the looks. Captain America has been, for his entire life as a character (longer than most others, including Bond) depicted as the stereotypical "All-American, Blonde-Haired, Blue-eyed, patriot". If they were going to break that mold, they might as well go with Will Smith, and really make this Avengers movie something original. Other than that, The guy needs to look like this:http://www.imnotobsessed.com/files/legacy/2007/11/jenaniston-jason-lewis.jpg

Though I'm not saying Jason Lewis should do it, but he has the look.

While I would love to see Brad Pitt, he really is too old at this point (youthful as he still is at 45), and would look a little ridiculous with bright blonde hair.

Sam would be good appearance wise cause he could bulk up, but his accent kinda throws off the "american" part lol. It would be weird to see some guy kicking ass who's named after America then all of a sudden have a strong non-american accent when he spoke lol. That'd be like having some british sounding guy play Captain America, it'd be weird and people would make fun of it and Cap America wouldn't be taken seriously. It'd be a joke to people.

Captain America is huge. He is a big fucking guy, Brad Pitt wouldn't work, yeah Brad is toned but he's too skinny to play such a thick bodied character. They need to get a unknown with a body of a professional wrestler to match Captain America's physical appearance. Also need a strong chin, that guy Delgren named Scott Porter I think it was? Anyway, his chin matches, but if I had to look at that guy's face throughout the movie I'd hang myself in the theater, I don't know why, but that guy's face bugs me lol. He looks somebody who would play a "villian" in a movie, like the asshole jock or something. He also isn't that big. I don't remember what this guy has been in but he isn't the worst choice, I just would look for a better match. Cap looks old to me, like in his 30s, at least that's how I see him in almost all the pictures I save to my computer. He's older looking than a lot of the other Marvel characters in his costume. It might just be that broad chin who knows.

ohh man...in how many movies are we gonna see him playing? he is burning himself.

Reynolds is gonna be awesome for this movie. He's a great actor.
Those who think he wasnt right for the part will probably be surprised at how well he does.

He already looks like a superhero, and GL(Hal Jordan) without trying

Im definitely a happy camper with this decision

I think I would have rather seen Sam Worthington as Green Lantern than Captain America. I can see as Martian Man Hunter for DC now that they are winding down possible super hero candidates for movies. I can also see him as Punisher if they took the time to really give the story the attention it needs like DC did with the Batman revamp. But then again that depends on the Writer and Director.

sam worthington would be awesome... i just dont see that happening

July 15th, 2009 2:22pm
I can't see Brad Pitt either VIS. Thomas jane would have been good when he was younger, and the dude cast for Thor would have been great as well. I think this guy Scott Porter has the look down, as well as the all american personality, and would be a good pic. Honestly, I'll cry if they pick Channing Tatum to play Captain America, that guys a serious fuck face.

I don't understand Newkill why you think Sam Worthington can't do it cause he's not american, but you don't have the same problem with Daniel Craig being blonde hair, blue eyes, when James Bond has been iconically depicted as being dark hair dark eyes, from the books to the movies until this recent revamp.
