Starz has handed out a series order for Noir, the new program from executive producers Sam Raimi and Robert G. Tapert.

Noir is a live-action adaptation of a 2001 Japanese anime series, which follows two female assassins who vow to fight a secret society and also try to uncover the mysterious connection between them.

Steve Lightfoot wrote the pilot script and will executive produce the series alongside Sam Raimi, Robert G. Tapert, Joshua Donen, and Bill Hamm.

It isn't known how many episodes Noir will receive for the first season, although most Starz programs receive between eight and ten episodes. It isn't clear when casting will begin on the series.

Starz has not announced release plans for the show, although it will likely debut sometime next year.
