Back in October, we reported that Oscar Winner Sandra Bullock had signed onto star in an all female reboot of the classic heist comedy Ocean's Eleven. Since then, we haven't heard much about this project, although word spread last month that Jennifer Lawrence was eyeing a role. Today we have word that, while Jennifer Lawrence won't be joining the cast, Elizabeth Banks is likely set to come aboard, along with new casting additions Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling.

Showbiz 411 reports that this project will start filming early next year in New York City. No details were given about the characters played by Elizabeth Banks, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter or Mindy Kaling. They will likely be part of this team of thieves assembled by Sandra Bullock's character, who is said to be the ex-con sister of George Clooney's Danny Ocean from 2001's Ocean's Eleven, and its sequels Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen.

Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) is set to direct from a script by Olivia Milch, which has been in development for the past two years. Our original report from October revealed that the story originated from Ocean's Eleven star George Clooney, director Steven Soderbergh and late producer Jerry Weintraub, who brought on writer Olivia Milch (Town & Country) to write the script. There was talk that George Clooney may put in a cameo appearance as Danny Ocean, but it seems that isn't happening, although it's possible he could return in a potential sequel.

The story centers on Sandra Bullock's character, who assembles a team to steal a coveted necklace from the Met Ball, while framing a gallery owner for the crime. Cate Blanchett is reportedly playing the right-hand woman of Bullock's character, similar to Brad Pitt's Rusty in the Ocean's Eleven trilogy. The project reportedly has a working title of Ocean's Ocho, teasing there will be eight thieves in this team.

Elizabeth Banks will next be seen as the villainous Rita Repulsa in Lionsgate's Power Rangers reboot, which hits theaters next March. The actress also recently dropped out as the director of Universal's Pitch Perfect 3, although she is staying on board as a producer, while returning in her on-screen role as Gail. Cate Blanchett will start filming Thor: Ragnarok this summer, portraying the Marvel comics villain Hela. Helena Bonham Carter can currently be seen on the big screen as the Red Queen in Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass, while Mindy Kaling recently lent her voice to Disney's blockbuster Inside Out.
