You can expect that whenever a huge casting story breaks, like last night's news that Ben Affleck is playing Batman in Man of Steel 2, there will be a lot of opposition from the fans. Soon after the news broke, more than 30 petitions were started on Change.com, expressing their desire to oust the actor from this coveted role.

In related news, others on the Internet have chosen to express their opinion on this casting in a more creative way, by creating memes depicting Ben Affleck as The Dark Knight, many of which feature the actor's longtime friend Matt Damon as Robin and Casey Affleck as Bat-Girl. One such petition already has over 18,000 signatures, out of the 25,000 that are "needed" to reach their "goal." Here's what the creator of that petition, John Roden from Ludlow, Kentucky, had to say in his statement on the petition's home page.

"His acting skill is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne and he won't do the role justice. He's not built, nor is he intimidating enough for the role of Batman. His portrayal of Daredevil was atrocious and he's not remotely close to an action star. Please find someone else.

I would like to add that this petition was not meant in any way to harm Ben Affleck or his career. I respect Affleck's work, I just feel he is inappropriate for the role."

Another such petition took their Ben Affleck beef to another level, asking for President Barack Obama himself to draft a law making it illegal for Warner Bros. to cast Ben Affleck as Batman. However, since the petition violated the terms of participation, it was removed by the White House administration.
