Oprah Winfrey is eyeing a starring role in an HBO Films adaptation of Lynn Nottage's play Ruined.

According to Variety, HBO is developing the project as a potential TV movie starring vehicle for Oprah Winfrey.

Lynn Nottage is adapting the play, which is loosely inspired by Bertold Brecht's "Mother Courage and Her Children," and centers on an independent businesswoman, Mama Nadi, and the women she employs in a canteen-brothel surrounded by the ongoing civil war in the Congo.
