Disney is far and away the biggest movie studio in Hollywood. They have been having unprecedented success with hit after hit grossing tons of money for them over the past handful of years. And they have decided to do some good with that money. In the wake of the Orlando shooting this week, the company has decided to make a $1 million donation to victims of the attack.

The organization OneOrlando was set up in the wake of the shootings that took place at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando on Sunday, and Mayor Buddy Dyer announced today that Disney has made a $1 million donation to the organization. Dyer took to his Twitter account to thank Disney Personally for the donation. Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, made a statement in regards to the donation shortly afterwards.

"We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act. With 74,000 cast members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones."

Disneyworld is of course based out of Orlando, so Disney has a very strong tie to the area and the community there. Not only did Disney make the initial $1 million donation to OneOrlando, but the company has also said that they will match whatever any of their employees donate dollar for dollar. The shooting was the deadliest in U.S. history and was the largest terrorist attack in the U.S. since 9/11, so there are plenty of families and victims of that attack that are in need, and Disney has stepped up in a big way.

Dyer also noted on his Twitter that JetBlue made a donation of $100,000 today as well. Both of these large donations are coinciding with a GoFundMe campaign that was started in the wake of the attack that has gone on to become the most successful campaign in the site's history, having raised more than $3.6 million so far. Disney didn't post anything to their social media channels about the donation, seemingly indicating that they weren't doing it for any sort of publicity reasons.

The shooting took place in Orlando at a gay night club and Disney has been very supportive of the LGBTQ community, hosting unofficial gay pride days at their parks each year. Many Disney actors and other people associated with the company took to social media to voice their feelings about the tragedy over the last few days.
