Joey King, the 11-year-old actress from Ramona and Beezus, has landed the coveted role of China Girl in Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Sam Raimi is directing the 3D fantasy pic, which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz that finds the titular character arriving in the Land of Oz and being treated like a wizard by the colorful locals.

James Franco and Mila Kunis star alongside Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, whose villainous character Evanora is an evil witch who has destroyed China Girl's family. Oz takes pity on her and becomes a reluctant surrogate father to the innocent young girl, who is made of porcelain.

The film is scheduled to start production this July in Michigan.
