According to Variety, Paramount's tapped Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn to pen an off-kilter adventure version of the seminal knight's story "St. George and the Dragon" with Red Wagon's Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher producing.

Paramount paid high six fugures against low seven figures for Auburn's deal.

"St. George and the Dragon is the enduring myth of a knight's struggle to save a feudal princess from a fearsome beast," Wick said. "In Auburn's retelling, the knight will be not so chivalrous, and the princess not so chaste."
