Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer has signed on to star in the Screen Gems thriller Patient Zero for director Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters, Deadfall). No details have been released regarding the actress' character at this time.

The plot is set in a world where a pandemic has spread throughout the world, creating a new breed of species through an aggressive strain of rabies. Once infected, the victims are transformed into terrifying predators, addicted to violence. The story centers on a gifted survivor who hasn't contracted the virus yet, and has the ability to communicate with these creatures, as he leads a quest to find Patient Zero and create a cure.

Stefan Ruzowitzky is directing from a script by Mike Le (W.M.D.), with Vincent Newman producing. No production schedule was given at this time.

Natalie Dormer is best known for playing Margaery Tyrell on HBO's popular series Game of Thrones, but her feature credits are getting more and more prominent as well. Last year she starred in The Counselor and Rush, and this fall she will take on the role of Cressida in Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and in next year's franchise finale The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
