Patricia Clarkson has signed on for the pivotal role of Chancellor Ava Paige in The Maze Runner adaptation for 20th Century Fox.

The story, based on James Dashner's novel, centers on a group of teenagers who are transported to a bizarre maze known as The Glade, with none of them having any memory of getting there. Ava Paige is the one responsible for bringing these teens to The Glade, as a test to find the strongest warriors in this dystopian society. Dylan O'Brien stars as Thomas, who tries to figure a way out of this massive structure. Thomas Sangster, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen, and Kaya Scodelario co-star in this thriller.

First-time filmmaker Wes Ball is directing from an adapted screenplay by Noah Oppenheim (The Secret Life of Houdini).

Patricia Clarkson most recently starred in The East, which is currently playing in theaters.
