Patricia Clarkson has been cast in Lars and the Real Girl, Sidney Kimmel Entertainment's offbeat indie being released by MGM, according to Variety. She joins Ryan Gosling and Emily Mortimer. Craig Gillespie is directing from a script by Nancy Oliver. Filming begins in November.

The film is the story of a timid man whose life changes dramatically when an Internet friend comes to visit. The beautiful, religious missionary is in fact an inanimate replica of a woman.

Clarkson, who starred in Sony's All the King's Men, is filming Marriage, directed by Ira Sachs and starring Pierce Brosnan. This year, she won her second Emmy for her role in HBO's Six Feet Under.
