Director Paul W.S. Anderson has been confirmed to direct Resident Evil 6, which is believed to be the last movie in the franchise. Production is slated to begin this fall, with Milla Jovovich returning as the ass-kicking Alice. No other cast members have been confirmed at this time, but Sony recently handed out a September 12, 2014 release date.

The special effects house Mr. X is also returning to provide all the visual effects. The director is most likely also writing the screenplay, since he wrote the scripts for every movie since 2002's Resident Evil, but no story details have been released yet.

Back in December, Paul W.S. Anderson confirmed to us that Resident Evil 6 will close out the entire franchise. Here's what he had to say in our exclusive interview.

"I feel that [Resident Evil: Retribution] is very much the beginning of the end for the Resident Evil franchise. I see this movie as the beginning of the end, and the set-up for an epic, and truly spectacular finale. Which I hope will be the next movie."
