Over the weekend, Netflix announced a slew of series premiere dates for new shows set to debut on the streaming service throughout the year. Since it isn't a TV series, it wasn't too surprising that one highly-anticipated project wasn't included, the new original movie Pee-wee's Big Holiday. The streaming service announced in July that the movie would debut sometime in March 2016, but today Netflix unveiled the first trailer, which reveals this movie will debut Friday, March 18.

In Pee-wee's Big Holiday, a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny. Unfortunately, we don't get our first look at this stranger in the trailer, so we'll have to wait and see when the next footage arrive. However, we do see Pee-Wee Herman's (Paul Reubens) unique morning ritual that revolves around a number of custom contraptions, and a scene where Pee-Wee marvels at a modern stoplight, which he has seen in "National Geographic."

The supporting cast for Pee-wee's Big Holiday includes Tara Buck, Joe Manganiello, Jessica Pohly, Alia Shawkat, Stephanie Beatriz, David Arquette and Brad William Henke. It isn't known if any characters from the original TV series Pee-wee's Playhouse will return for this new movie, but we'll find out for sure in just a few short months. Hopefully we'll get a full-length trailer between now and the March 18 release, so stay tuned.

John Lee makes his feature directorial debut with Pee-wee's Big Holiday. He previously directed episodes of TV shows such as Wonder Showzen, The Heart, She Holler, Broad City and Inside Amy Schumer. He is directing from a script Paul Reubens co-wrote with Paul Rust (Comedy Bang! Bang!, Arrested Development).

Paul Reubens also produces alongside Judd Apatow, who helped bring this long-awaited project to fruition. Pee-wee's Big Holiday marks the first Pee-Wee Herman movie since 1988's Big Top Pee-wee.
