Alden Ehrenreich is in negotiations to join the growing cast of Joel Coen and Ethan Coen's Hail Caesar. No details were given regarding the character he will play, but the actor joins a cast that already includes George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill.
The story follows Eddie Mannix, a "fixer" who works for the major Hollywood movie studios in the 1950s, trying to keep actors and actresses in line to avoid any scandal. When we pulled up to the sprawling Ravenwood Manor set used in Beautiful Creatures, that unmistakable feeling sunk in right away. As I mentioned in my set visit preview from August, I was invited down to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to visit this amazing set on a sweltering summer day to check out this fantasy adaptation, based on the popular novel series written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
To be perfectly honest, the first thing that came to mind when I initially heard about this project was Twilight. They are both set in a sleepy town and feature a budding romance with supernatural aspects at the heart of the relationship. On Thursday, we reported that actor Garrett Hedlund is in talks to star as Kaneda in Akira. Since that role seems to be locked up, Warner Bros. is now focusing on casting Kaneda's brother, Tetsuo, with Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin) and Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro) reading for the part.
Tetsuo is a young man who develops telekinetic abilities, which the government wants to harvest for their own means. The story follows Kaneda, who tries to rescue his brother from these experiments. We also reported last month that Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter were offered the roles of The Colonel and Lady Miayko, although it is not known if they have accepted the offers.Read More
