EXCLUSIVE: Antje Traue Talks Faora and General Zod in ‘Man of Steel’

Actress Antje Traue takes us through the process of becoming Faora in Man of Steel, opening in theaters everywhere June 14

While this weekend's Man of Steel does feature a slew of big-name actors (Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, and Russell Crowe), there will be a few faces many will be seeing for the first time as well. The most notable of which is Antje Traue, who horror fans may remember as Nadia in 2009's Pandorum. The lovely German actress plays the ruthless Faora, the trusted warrior of General Zod (Michael Shannon) who has quite a presence on screen, although, as I mentioned in my review, I really wish they used her more. I recently had the chance to sit down with Antje Traue to discuss all things Man of Steel, hitting theaters June 14. Here's what she had to say.

‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ Adds Antje Traue

‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ Adds Antje Traue

Filmmaker Brett Ratner took a page out of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past playbook by announcing on Twitter that Antje Traue has joined the cast of Hercules: The Thracian Wars. That tweet has since been deleted, which likely means the director jumped the gun and announced the news too early.

No details have been released as to what character the actress is portraying. She joins a cast that already includes Dwayne Johnson as Hercules, Aksel Hennie as Tydeus, Rufus Sewell as Autolycus, and Ian McShane as Amphiarus. The story follows Hercules, the son of Zeus who turns his back on the Gods. He leads a team of mercenaries who will fight anyone's battle for them, provided the price is right. The plot thickens when their latest mission becomes more complicated than anyone could imagine.

‘Man of Steel’ Gets Antje Traue as Faora

German actress Antje Traue (Pandorum) had landed the female villain role of Faora in Man of Steel for Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder.

We reported two weeks ago that Faora would be the female villain, a character from the comic books that was used as the basis for Ursa in Superman II. There are a number of different versions of Faora in the original comic books, and it isn't quite clear which incarnation of the character Antje Traue will portray. It is believed, though, that the actress will play the version of Faora which teams up with General Zod, who will be played by Michael Shannon in Man of Steel.
