Baz Luhrmann has entered negotiations to direct an untitled biopic on Elvis Presley for Warner Bros.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks) is penning the screenplay, which isn't based on any pre-existing material. It isn't known what periods of the rock and roll icon's life will be covered in this project. The director has been in negotiations for several weeks, and his deal is expected to be finalized. Just one week after we reported that Universal Pictures and Legendary are moving forward with their Kung Fu TV series adaptation, Baz Luhrmann has entered talks to direct.
If a deal is made, his first order of business will be to rewrite the script, which was most recently worked on by Rich Wilkes (xXx, Marvel's Iron Fist), although it isn't clear how far along the negotiations are at this stage.
