Bruce Campbell is back, baby! Yes, after nearly 22 years away, Ashley Williams has returned to fight the Deadites once again in Starz's epic 10 episode first season of Ash Vs. Evil Dead. EW delivers the first official photo, which shows Bruce Campbell in his iconic blue shirt, covered in blood, ready to do battle with his legendary chainsaw hand. He is joined by his two new sidekicks, giving us a first look at Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo).
Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash, an aging stock boy at Value Stop who must face the demons of his past as humanity faces a very scary apocalypse. This time, he is getting the help of two co-workers, who will aid the man in saving the world. Apparently Ash hasn't bothered to change his clothes in the past two decades. About where he has been and what he has been up to, Bruce Campbell offers this explanation.Read More
This isn't the only thing we've seen recently to get us overly-excited for Ash's return in Ash Vs. Evil Dead! Just last week we got an Ash Vs Evil Dead trailer that teased the return of everyone's favorite chainsaw-handed Deadite slayer, with alternative versions that included some iconic Ash-isms, such as 'Groovy!' and 'I'm back, baby!' This latest photo is actually our first look at Bruce Campbell, as the trailers, which we've included here, keep him shrouded in shadows.
Ash Vs. Evil Dead is currently in production in New Zealand and is set to premiere on Starz Fall 2015. Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons -personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its "Evil" grip.Read More
With production announced towards the end of last month, we haven't heard or seen much from the set of Ash Vs. Evil Dead since it started shooting! But that doesn't mean the production on the pilot, which is being directed by franchise creator Sam Raimi, isn't flying along smoothly. One thing we can expect is a lot of blood. Oceans of it. Perhaps even more than witnessed in the blood rain scene at the end of the 2013 Evil Dead (which wasn't a remake or reboot, but will actually, at some point, tie into this new Starz series). Always an active presence on Twitter, star Bruce Campbell showed off one of his most important work tools: His portable blood kit!
As you can see, Ashley's job in Ash Vs. Evil Dead will require all levels and colors of blood. From light to dark, to black and green. With the continuation of this iconic horror series happening on Starz, the sky is the limit in terms of gore and viscera. As previously teased by the team, we're sure to get one of the most no-holds-barred series ever when Ash Vs. Evil Dead debuts later this year. While we've seen a teaser trailer, we may get the first full trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2015. In a second Tweet, Bruce Campbell promises that he will be there. And he is bringing a special treat!Read More
How's this for inspired casting? Just one week after Bruce Campbell told us his dream role was playing Abraham Lincoln, the iconic cult actor known best as Ash in The Evil Dead series has been cast as another equally important president. Yes, the man will be taking on the role of Hollywood icon-turned-Republican figurehead Ronald Reagan in Fargo Season 2.
No stranger to television, Bruce Campbell starred for 7 seasons on USA's hit action series Burn Notice. And he will next be seen reprising his role as Ashley in the upcoming Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead. This is also not his first brush with Fargo. The actor had an unbilled cameo in the Coen Brothers' big screen Fargo, where he is seen on a television in the kidnappers' cabin.Read More
When it comes to the new Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead, star Bruce Campbell hasn't been shy about sharing facts with fans. Rather than keep the upcoming show's story a secret, he has given us all a pretty good idea of what we can expect. We'll get Ash living in a trailer home still working as a box boy for S-Mart when the Evil Dead return. He'll go to war against these Deadites with two new sidekicks, played by Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo. And it was just announced this past week that Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless will play Ash's advisory, who believes Ash is responsible for the recent rash of Evil outbreaks. But one fact has yet to be revealed. Will this be a crossover with the 2013 Evil Dead remake? According to Bruce Campbell, the answer sounds like a yes.
You may remember that the end credit sequence of Fede Alvarez's hybrid sequel/remake included a cameo from Bruce Campbell as Ash, which teased a team-up between him and that film's Mia, played by Jane Levy. While talking with Bruce Campbell about his new game show Last Fan Standing, we asked if there was a possibility Jane Levy will return as Mia in one of the upcoming Ash Vs. Evil Dead episodes. At first, it doesn't sound like that is a possibility. At least not in Ash Vs. Evil Dead Season 1. They plan on sticking with the original recipe for the time being:"That's not where the stories are headed right now. Ash and a couple of other misfits are teamed-up together. In the show for Starz, which will be later this year. Mostly we just wanted to get the band back together, get the original Ash back, get Sam Raimi back, and put this on its feet. We're pretty excited. We're going back to New Zealand to shoot this, where I've done three other TV shows.Read More
