Marvel Confirms Evangeline Lilly as Hope Pym in ‘Ant-Man’

There was some confusion at the Marvel Hall H panel this weekend, when the studio presented their Ant-Man test footage. Studio president and producer Kevin Feige announced that Evangeline Lilly will be playing Hope Van Dyne, which was also stated in their press release. She is actually playing Hope Pym, who eventually turns into a character known as Red Queen in the MC2 Universe. She is the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, and its unclear why or how Marvel mixed the name up.

Corey Stoll and Evangeline Lilly have found their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the female lead and antagonist, respectively, in Marvel's Ant-Man in theaters July 17, 2015!

While Evangeline Lilly is the leading lady of the movie, Hope Van Dyne, who is being set up as a love interest for Paul Rudd's Scott Lang, and is the daughter of Michael Douglas's Hanky Pym, both actors who were introduces on stage as The Ant-Men.

Evangeline Lilly Denies ‘Ant-Man’ Casting Rumors

Back in February, Evangeline Lilly was rumored to be in talks to play the female lead in Ant-Man. It was believed that she was playing the daughter of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and the love interest of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd). Some thought she was possibly portraying The Wasp. During a new interview, the actress denied being cast in Marvel's Phase Two adventure. She said this even though various trade publications have confirmed her for the role.

The actress is already confirmed to appear at Comic-Con this week for The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies and to introduce her new children's book entitled The Squickerwonkers. Its speculated that she is currently denying any involvement in Ant-Man because she is part of Marvel's surprise casting announcements, and will be part of the big Q&A panel the studio has lined up for Saturday afternoon.

Actor Corey Stoll (Law & Order: Los Angeles) has joined the cast of House of Cards, an original series from Netflix and executive producer/director David Fincher.

The series centers on Kevin Spacey's character, Rep. Frank Underwood, the Majority Whip of the House of Representatives. When he gets passed over for Secretary of State, he hatches a plan to take down the new President of the United States. Corey Stoll will portray Rep. Patrick Russo, a womanizing three-term Congressman who gets caught driving drunk with a prostitute. Underwood helps Russo avoid a scandal, but at a high cost.
