Homeland star Damian Lewis has signed on to star in Queen of the Desert for writer-director Werner Herzog.
Nicole Kidman is attached to star as writer, explorer and archaeologist Gertrude Bell, who is credited with the formation of the Middle East in the early 20th Century. Damian Lewis is playing Lt. Colonel Charles Doughty-Wylie, an unhappily married British war hero who strikes up a torrid affair with Bell between 1913 and 1915, before he was killed in active duty at Gallipoli. Jaguar has announced that award-winning British Actor Damian Lewis will play the lead in a short feature film called Desire for the luxury car brand. Actors Jordi Mollà and Shannyn Sossamon have also been cast in lead roles in the film. Inspired by the Jaguar F-TYPE, the casting announcement was made at an exclusive pre LA Auto Show event hosted by Jaguar Land Rover at Paramount Studios, LA.

British actor Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) has signed on to star in the leading role opposite Claire Danes in Showtime's new, one-hour drama pilot Homeland. Lewis will play U.S. Marine Sergeant Scott Brody, a POW who miraculously returns home after nearly a decade of captivity in Iraq. Additionally, Laura Fraser (A Knight's Tale) has been cast in the role of Jessica, Brody's intrepid and complicated wife. Diego Klattenhoff (Men in Trees) will play Mike Faber, a Marine colonel and Brody's best friend who has become close with Jessica over the years that he has been MIA. Homeland begins production in January 2011 and will be executive produced by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, who recently served as executive producers on the long-running series 24.
