Joel and Ethan Coen have made a deal to write the script for DreamWorks' currently untitled Cold War thriller with Steven Spielberg directing and Tom Hanks starring in the lead.
The film is based on the true story of American attorney James Donovan, who was enlisted by the CIA during the Cold War to negotiate the 1962 release of U-2 spy plane pilot Francis Gary Powers. Joel and Ethan Coen have inked a deal to re-write Angelina Jolie's WWII drama Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.
The film is an adaptation of a book written by Laura Hillenbrand and centers on the life of Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini. The story follows the war hero and two of his crewman as they survive a horrific plane crash and end up captured by the Japanese Navy. The film will chronicle their time in a concentration camp and his time as a member of the 1936 US Olympic team in Berlin.Read More

Oscar-winning film directors Joel Coen and Ethan Coen are making their first foray into TV with the comedy series HarveKarbo, which received a script commitment from Fox. The filmmakers will executive produce the series with Cedar Rapids screenwriter Phil Johnston, who is writing the pilot script.
