‘Supergirl’ TV Show Eyes British Actress Gemma Atkinson

Ever since it was first announced in September that a Supergirl TV series is moving forward, fans have wondered which actress will land the title role of Kara Zor-el, the cousin of Superman. While CBS has yet to confirm the series star yet, the tabloid publication The Sun has revealed that British actress Gemma Atkinson is being eyed for the coveted part. The actress, who is the daughter of Mr. Bean star Rowan Atkinson, is reportedly waiting to find out whether or not she has landed the role, but the news has yet to be confirmed at this time.

We reported last month that The Originals star Claire Holt was up for the title role, but just one week later, another report surfaced that the series is no longer interested in the actress. We also reported in October that Kara Zor-El will be 24 years old in the series, with CBS searching for actresses between the ages of 22 and 26 for the role. It's worth noting that Gemma Atkinson is 30 years old, which puts her out of the network's proposed age range for the role, but that doesn't mean she isn't in contention.
