‘Maleficent’ Adds Imelda Staunton and Miranda Richardson

Walt Disney Pictures has just added five new cast members for Maleficent, bringing on Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Kenneth Cranham, Sam Riley, and Lesley Manville.

The story centers on Angelina Jolie's title character, and puts a new spin on her relationship with Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty. Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville are playing Knotgrass and Flittle, two of the pixies who care for Aurora. Miranda Richardson is portraying Queen Ulla, Maleficent's aunt who does like her evil niece. Sam Riley plays Diaval, Maleficent's trusted right hand, who transforms between a raven and a human. Kenneth Cranham is playing the human king, who tries to conquer the fairy kingdom.

James McAvoy will voice the title character in Arthur ChristmasJames McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen, have joined the voice cast of the 3D, CG-animated family comedy, Arthur Christmas. The film, produced by Aardman Animations for Sony Pictures Animation, is slated for release November 23, 2011.

Rebecca Hall, Dominic West and Imelda Staunton Discover ‘The Awakening’

Screen Daily is reporting that Rebecca Hall, Dominic West and Imelda Staunton have come aboard the supernatural thriller The Awakening.

Famed UK television director Nick Murphy is making his feature debut with this film. Shooting will commence in June.
