‘Avengers 2’ Director's Cut Not Happening Says Joss Whedon

Are you disappointed that there won't be a director's cut of Avengers: Age of Ultron? The movie obviously did quite well in theaters, but it still has fallen a bit short of Marvel's The Avengers' $1.5 million worldwide gross back in 2012. The director doesn't have any directorial projects lined up at the moment, but hopefully we'll hear what he's doing next very soon.

Avengers: Age of Ultron was released May 1st, 2015.

‘Star Wars’ Boba Fett Movie Wants Director Joss Whedon?

‘Star Wars’ Boba Fett Movie Wants Director Joss Whedon?

Now that Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron is in theaters, the director is essentially parting ways with Marvel, with the filmmaker recently expressing his desire to start writing his own new material. While he doesn't have any confirmed projects in the works, a new report claims that Disney and LucasFilm are courting him to direct one of the Star Wars Anthology movies. Gareth Edwards is directing the first spinoff, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, which starts production this summer and hits theaters next December, but it's possible that Joss Whedon could be courted for the Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett Movie, which Josh Trank recently backed out of.

It's worth noting that this rumor originated at the Get Your Geek On Podcast, where the host admitted to creating this rumor as a joke, to see how quickly a story like this would spread across the Internet. However, various sites are reporting that "something" is happening with LucasFilm and Joss Whedon, but what that "something" is remains a mystery. Still, no talks or discussions have been confirmed by either Joss Whedon or Disney/LucasFilm, so we'll just have to wait and see if it turns out to be true or not. There is even speculation that the director deactivated his Twitter profile as a "smokescreen" so he could secretly engage in talks with the Star Wars team.

‘Avengers 2’: Whedon Talks Battle with Marvel Over Final Cut

Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has previously hinted about his battles with Marvel leading up to the release of this Phase Two sequel. While we don't know if he will ever direct an MCU movie again, he certainly doesn't have one planned, with Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo taking the helm for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2. Joss Whedon recently spoke in detail about his struggles with Marvel on the Empire Film Podcast. If you haven't seen Avengers: Age of Ultron yet, there will be SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

In related news, Joss Whedon deactivated his Twitter account yesterday, and while no official reason was given, there is speculation that it may have been over numerous death threats the director received after Avengers: Age of Ultron's release. Of course, it's possible he could have just shut down his account now that his publicity responsibilities for Avengers: Age of Ultron are through. The director previously quit Twitter after promotional duties for his 2013 indie Much Ado About Nothing were complete, so it's certainly feasible that he has quit again for the same reason.

‘Avengers 2’: Whedon Explains Why Loki Scene Was Cut

Since this scene was actually filmed, it's possible that it may end up as a deleted scene on the Avengers: Age of Ultron Blu-ray and DVD release later this year, but we don't know for certain. It's also possible that this scene may be integrated into the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. You may recall that a deleted scene from 2008's The Incredible Hulk, where Hulk tries to commit suicide, was mentioned in a scene from 2012's Marvel's The Avengers.

The producer also confirmed that the Tesseract from Marvel's The Avengers is the Space Stone and the Mind Stone gets introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Orb from Guardians of the Galaxy has been confirmed as the Power Stone, the Aether from Thor: The Dark World is the Reality Stone. When do you think the last two Infinity Stones will be revealed? Let us know what you think below, and stay tuned for more updates on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

‘Daredevil’: Joss Whedon Wanted a Movie, Not a TV Show

Of course, many fans weren't terribly happy with the first Daredevil movie, which hit theaters in 2003 and stars, ironically, Ben Affleck, who now plays Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The director recently said in another interview that he has always wanted to make a Batman movie, and while it isn't known if he would have directed a Daredevil movie, he would likely be involved in some level. Marvel's Daredevil has been renewed for a second season already, and series star Charlie Cox has also expressed his interest in making a Daredevil movie. Since Avengers: Age of Ultron is Joss Whedon's last Marvel movie for the time being, perhaps Marvel could find a way to lure Joss Whedon back to directing by developing a Daredevil movie starring Charlie Cox. What do you think about these new details? Would you have rather seen a Daredevil movie than a TV show? Let us know what you think.
