The first trailer has arrived for director Sang-il Lee's Unforgiven, based on Clint Eastwood's 1992 Academy Award-winning best picture of the same name. Ken Watanabe stars in this Japanese Western remake, with the action now set in late 1800′s Hokkaido. A long retired samurai is drawn back into action by the combination of poverty and a large bounty, at a time when Japan largely abandons the old ways to adopt a more modern stance. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today the final principal cast for the upcoming tent pole Godzilla. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche are starring in the film, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.

Actor Ken Watanabe will step into Clint Eastwood's shoes for a Japanese samurai remake of the 1992 Western classic Unforgiven.
Sang-il Lee (Hula Girls) will direct the remake, entitled Yurusarezaru Mono (A Thing That Can't Be Forgiven). Ken Watanabe will play an exiled samurai with a history of violence who lives in the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. He is pulled out of retirement for one final job. Kôichi Satô will play the Little Bill Daggett role originated by Gene Hackman, while Akira Emoto will star in the Ned Logan role originally played by Morgan Freeman.Read More
Last month, we reported that actor Gary Oldman was offered the Colonel role in Akira. Today we have word that the actor couldn't come to terms with Warner Bros. for the role, which lead the studio to offer Colonel to Ken Watanabe.
We don't know much about the Colonel character, but it is believed he is running the military experiments on Tetsuo. The story centers on Kaneda (Garrett Hedlund), the leader of a New Manhattan biker gang who tries to rescue his friend Tetsuo from these experiments. It isn't known yet if Ken Watanabe will accept the offer, although he is the first Japanese actor to be approached for this live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Ôtomo's Japanese manga.Read More
