One of the stranger true-life tales coming to the big screen this year is the fateful meeting between a standing U.S. president and a rock icon both in the twilight of their lives. Courtesy of Bloom and Autumn Pictures, we have the first image from Elvis & Nixon, which finds Michael Shannon taking on the King of Rock while Kevin Spacey plays a disgraced leader quite unlike the POTUS he portrays on House of Cards.
This first-look image of Spacey as Richard Nixon and Shannon as Elvis Presley, from Liza Johnson's comedy, finds the two famous figureheads meeting in the Oval Office. Currently in production, the never been told story re-creates an intimate encounter between two men at the height of their powers. Cassian Elwes and Holly Wiersma are producing with Autumn Pictures' David Hansen and Johnny Mac financing and executive producing alongside Byron Wetzel, Robert Ogden Barnum and Jerry Schilling.Read More
Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin wrote the screenplay, with EuropaCorp producing and providing financing for the project. Nine Lives will be one of the first projects to be developed through EuropaCorp's Red distribution pipeline, a joint venture with Relativity Media. EuropaCorp's U.S. film president Lisa Ellzey will oversee the project, although it isn't known when production will begin, or if there are any producers attached at this time. Kevin Spacey is currently shooting Elvis & Nixon, where he portrays President Richard Nixon alongside Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley.
