‘Borat’ Director Larry Charles Takes on ‘The Man Who Sued God’

It was revealed today that Larry Charles (Borat, The Dictator, TV's Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) will write a reimagined version of the cult Australian hit The Man Who Sued God for New Films International (NFI) with an eye toward directing.

NFI founder and President Nesim Hason and Mace Neufeld (The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Sony's upcoming The Equalizer with Denzel Washington) are producing the new project with Sixth Sense Productions principals Richard Harding and Sam Feuer (The First Grader).

Larry Charles Will Direct ‘A Walk in the Woods’

Larry Charles has signed on to direct A Walk in the Woods, which has Robert Redford and Nick Nolte attached to star. Richard Linklater, Chris Columbus and Barry Levinson had previously been attached to direct at different times during the project's development.

Michael Arndt (Star Wars: Episode VII, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) wrote the adapted screenplay, with Robert Redford and Bill Holderman producing for Wildwood Enterprises alongside Route One Films' Chip Diggins. Production is scheduled to begin in March.

Jim Carrey's ‘Pierre Pierre’ Moves Forward at Foresight Unlimited

The languishing comedy Pierre Pierre has been given a new lease on life, with Foresight Unlimited boarding the project. We first reported on Pierre Pierre back in July 2010, when star Jim Carrey and director Larry Charles joined the film.

The story centers on a self-centered French man (Jim Carrey) who hatches a plan to steal the Mona Lisa from The Louvre in Paris, so he can finally move out of his parents' house. Foresight Unlimited is teaming with Mandalay Vision and Lago Films, and have already lined up sales in international territories at the Berlin Film Festival.

‘The Dictator’ Track & Field Photos with Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen is currently on the New York based set of director Larry Charles's The Dictator, where he is playing the tyrannical ruler of a small country. New photos from the set have arrived, which find The Dictator, a man based solely on Saddam Hussein, bringing a gun to a track and field meet. He is also spotted on the run, attempting to steal a meal, which doesn't quite go as planned. Check out the images below.

Paramount Pictures announced today that Sacha Baron Cohen's new comedy The Dictator will be released worldwide on May 11, 2012. The studio also announced that Larry Charles (BoratBruno) has come aboard to direct.

The film tells the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. It is inspired by the best selling novel Zabibah and The King by Saddam Hussein.
