Just a few months after Liam Neeson signed on to star in StudioCanal's The Commuter, it seems the actor is reuniting with his regular collaborator behind the camera. Deadline reports that Jaume Collet-Serra has come aboard to direct The Commuter. This will be the fourth project the actor and director have collaborated on, following Unknown, Non-Stop and last year's Run All Night.
Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi wrote the screenplay, which follows a businessman (Liam Neeson) who unwillingly gets embroiled in a criminal conspiracy during his daily commute home. This sinister plot not only endangers his life, but also the lives of several other commuters around him. We first reported on The Commuter way back in 2010, when Olatunde Osunsanmi (The Fourth Kind) signed on to direct, but that was the last we heard about the project.Read More
After a string of action-packed hits, Liam Neeson is entering the fantasy realm by providing the voice of a massive creature in Focus Features' A Monster Calls. The studio has released the first trailer for this adaptation of Patrick Ness' beloved novel, which doesn't give us a great look at this title character, but we do get to hear Liam Neeson providing the voice. The studio has also released the first photo, featuring Lewis MacDougall as young Conor.
A Monster Calls is a visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible), based on the award-winning children's fantasy novel. 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother's (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith. The cast also includes Academy Award nominees Liam Neeson, who will star in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title.Read More

Following the success of Taken in 2009, Liam Neeson carved out quite a niche for himself as an older action star. His career certainly careened down this path, with the iconic actor appearing in 9 more action-packed thrillers that includ The A-Team, The Next Three Days, Unknown, The Grey, Battleship, Taken 2, Non-Stop, A Walk Among the Tombstones and Taken 3. Now, on the eve of his latest 'geriaction' movie, as some have dubbed them, Liam Neeson has declared that he will stop making action movies in 2 years, if he is able to make it that far.
Liam Neeson was mostly known for his dramatic roles before taking the lead in Taken, having earned an Oscar nomination for his role in Schindler's List. He also appeared in romantic fare such as Love Actually and the biopic Kinsey. But Taken certainly wasn't his first deep into genre fare. One of his earliest movies was the fantasy adventure Krull and he of course portrayed the Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, a role he's said he'd like to revisit. He also appeared in Batman Begins as Ra's Al Ghul.Read More
