Sony Pictures has debuted the first photo from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the studio's adaptation of the popular fantasy novel by Cassandra Clare. Lily Collins stars as Clary Fray, who learns that her family comes from a long line of demon slayers known as Shadowhunters, and that she has inherited powerful abilities allowing her to reign over the working class ghouls threatening to destroy mankind. This photo finds Clary showing off one of her family's magical symbols, known as runes (that bizarre imprint on her palm), which Shadowhunters use to protect themselves from various deadly djinns of the underworld. The first trailer is set to debut tomorrow, so consider this first look image a tasty tease of evil dampening things to come.
