Mean Girls director Mark Waters has signed on to direct #Catfight for Screen Gems and Olive Bridge Entertainment.
The story, which was written by Amelie Gillette (Growing Up Fisher), centers on Lucy, an insecure high school girl who receives a scholarship to attend a prestigious private school for her senior year, as she tries to hide her past. On the day she is being interviewed by a recruiter from her dream college, Lucy learns that her boyfriend's psychotic ex-girlfriend has just gotten out of a juvenile detention facility, and challenges her to a fight after school. Brothers Daniel Waters, the writer behind the cult classic Heathers, and Mark Waters, the director behind Mean Girls, both made their mark on pop culture with two similar movies that play as companion pieces. Now, they are joining forces to bring the Richelle Mead young adult novel series Vampire Academy to the big screen with Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters.
Mark will direct, while Daniel will pen this first in what is being planned as a six part saga. The story follows 17-year-old Rose Hathaway, who holds a mental and spiritual bond with her vampire friend Lissa.
