Dimension Films Acquires ‘The Black Marks’ Starring Kurt Russell

Dimension Films announced that it has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the heist comedy The Black Marks from Darius Films starring Kurt Russell (Death Proof), Matt Dillon (Crash, There's Something About Mary) and Jay Baruchel (Knocked Up). The film is written and directed by Jonathan Sobol (A Beginner's Guide to Endings). The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company.

Crunch Calhoun (Russell), a third rate motorcycle daredevil and semi-reformed art thief, agrees to get back into the con game and pull off just one more lucrative art theft with his untrustworthy brother Nicky (Dillon). Crunch reassembles the old team and comes up with a plan to steal a priceless historical book, but the successful heist leads to another, far riskier, plan devised by Nicky. What the brothers don't realize is they each have their own agenda and their plan goes awry in this con movie about brotherhood, honor and revenge.

Mike Figgis Directing Matt Dillon and Julia Stiles in ‘Seconds of Pleasure’

Mike Figgis has signed on to direct the ensemble drama Seconds of Pleasure, starring Matt Dillon, Julia Stiles, Brendan Fraser, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Hendricks.

‘Sunlight Jr.’ Begins Production

Principal photography has begun on Sunlight Jr., it was announced today by Original Media's Charlie Corwin and Freight Yard Films' Andrea Roa. Filmed on location in southern Florida, the independent film stars Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon.

Sunlight Jr. is written and directed by Laurie Collyer (Sherrybaby) and produced by Charlie Corwin (Half Nelson, The Squid and the Whale), Andrea Roa (Booster) and Ariel Elia, who will produce on behalf of Empyrean. Joshua Skurla is on board as an Executive Producer, as are Billy Dietrich and Simon Fawcett, who arranged the financing.

Actors Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, and Craig Robinson have joined the cast of Freaky Deaky, an adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novel of the same name.

The story centers on two former activists and bomb-makers who use their explosive skills to con a drunk movie producer out of his fortune. William H. Macy has already committed to playing the movie producer, Woody Ricks. Matt Dillon is set for the lead role of Chris Mankowski, an LAPD bomb squad officer who uncovers the activists' threat. Brendan Fraser will play one of the activists, Skip Gibbs, who now works as a pyrotechnics artist on movie sets, and Craig Robinson will play Woody Ricks' assistant, a former Black Panther.

Jack Black, Renee Zellweger and Matt Dillon Join ‘You Are Here’

Pajiba is reporting that actors Jack Black, Matt Dillon and Renée Zellweger are attached to the upcoming comedy You Are Here.

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner wrote the script and will make his feature directorial debut with the project. The site reports that he was in pre-production on the movie last year, which had Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis attached to star at that time. The production was put on hold since it conflicted with the Mad Men shooting schedule. Now Jack Black, Matt Dillon and Renée Zellweger are all on board to replace the previous cast, with an offer out to Rachel McAdams to appear as well.
