The action-thriller takes place in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic where an enhanced strain of rabies turns humans into violent, zombie-like creatures. The plot centers on a man who is not only surprisingly immune to this disease, but has the ability to communicate with the dangerous species. Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith has signed on to star in the Cross Creek Pictures' adaptation Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
The project is based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel of the same name, which puts a horror-comedy spin on the classic Jane Austen book Pride and Prejudice. Lily James is playing Elizabeth Bennett, who is pressured by her family to marry into a wealthy home, although she decides instead to help defend her homeland from a zombie invasion.
