So, while these actors aren't necessarily confirmed for Mallrats 2 quite yet, don't be surprised to hear them signing on in the near future. Also, since Jason Mewes is likely coming back as Jay, it certainly seems possible that Kevin Smith will once again play Jay's sidekick, Silent Bob. Kevin Smith still has three more movies to shoot before Mallrats 2, including Clerks III, which starts production this May, followed by Hit Somebody in September and Moose Jaws in early 2016, so we have plenty of time before Mallrats 2 actually begins to roll.
In the original Mallrats, Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith played Jay and Silent Bob, with Stan Lee appearing as himself in a cameo towards the end, where he gives a memorable speech to comic book fanatic Brody (Jason Lee). Michael Rooker portrayed the villainous Mr. Svenning, the father of Claire Forlani's Brandi Svenning, who is putting together a game show to be held at the mall. Are you excited that these characters may very well return for Mallrats 2? Take a look at Kevin Smith's photo, and stay tuned for more details.Read More
We learned even before the first movie came out that the sequel will deal with Star-Lord's "daddy issues," with James Gunn revealing last month that we will find out who Quill's father is, but he doesn't want to keep the big reveal shrouded in mystery. The filmmaker has also confirmed in August that Quill's father in the sequel will not be J'son, who was Star-Lord's father in the comics.

After working with filmmaker James Gunn on his first two directorial efforts, Slither and Super, Michael Rooker makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy, opening in theaters August 1. While he's not one of the Guardians themselves, Yondu, an outlaw leading a team of miscreants known as The Ravagers, plays a critical role in this Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two adventure.
I recently had the chance to speak with Michael Rooker about the extensive commitment it took to just apply the makeup for this character, how filmmaker James Gunn's style has been altered (if at all) to build this immense sequel, and much more.Read More

Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana recently gave some in-depth comments about the Marvel Phase Two ensemble, where she revealed that the project will make you look at superheroes in a whole new way.
Here's what she had to say, when asked what fans should expect from the film, while praising director James Gunn."A new way to view superheroes. I love sometimes the consistency of what the classics have left behind, but I need innovation. You can only have so much of, 'I'll save you!' After a while, it's 'Oh God, does he go to the bathroom? Is he hungry?' It's like, 'Does he cry? Does he feel?' and not only do we cover that, we're making heroes that are thieves! They're Robin Hood's and I love that because I like the underdog and the hardest route because that's the only one that's going to teach you great lessons in life.Read More
The Walking Dead star Michael Rooker has signed on to star in Guardians of the Galaxy as Yondu. The actor hinted in our exclusive interview from October that he wanted to play Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Phase Two ensemble, a role which has still not been cast yet.
The character first appeared in a 1969 issue of the comic book Marvel Super-Heroes. He hails from the Zatoan tribe on Centauri IV, the first planet to be colonized outside of the Sun's solar system in the 29th Century. Yondu does not possess any super-human abilities, but he is a skilled hunter with a bow and arrow, and has a mystical "sixth sense" that gives him limited empathic abilities with other life forms. He was one of the founding members of the Guardians of the Galaxy.Read More

Anyone who knows James Gunn's work knows that he is a very loyal director who likes to use certain actors again and again. So when it was announced that he would be directing and re-writing Marvel Studios epic sci-fi adventure Guardians of the Galaxy, speculation started to fly about who would be cast in the film. Many believed that Nathan Fillion, star of James Gunn's Slither and loved by Joss Whedon, would be taking on one of the lead roles. But the actor denied that, saying he was too commited to his series Castle to board the project.
That brings us next to Michael Rooker, who also starred in Slither and had an important role in Super. He, too, claims to be too busy with his own television series The Walking Dead to think about Guardians of the Galaxy, but he doesn't rule it out. In fact, he loves the idea of coming into play Rocket Raccoon, which we assume at this point will be a motion capture character. He does have the perfect voice for it, and its obvious that the actor has talked to James Gunn about the role.Read More
