Aside from David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi appeared in the most episodes of The X-Files throughout its nine-season run. He made his debut in the first season's 20th episode, and appeared in 81 episodes in total between 1994 to 2002. Other cast members such as Annabeth Gish (Monica Reyes) and Robert Patrick (John Doggett) have also been rumored to come back, but they have not been confirmed quite yet.
Original series creator Chris Carter is back to write and executive produce the new series, which will begin production sometime this summer. While there is still precious little we know about the Untitled X Files Reboot in terms of story, we do know that it will stay in line with the original The X-Files series, keeping the mythology intact. The show will get a modernization in terms of where we're at as a society. And it will be a mix of serialized episodes with the traditional 'Monster of the Week'. We also know that we'll be getting a total of 6 new episodes, and that original stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will return as FBI agents Scully and Mulder. Appearing on Late Show with David Letterman, David Duchovny went onto reveal that at least two more original characters will be returning as well.
We reported a few weeks back that Sam and Dean Winchester's grandfather will return to the series and now that news has been confirmed along with new details on his return. Ausiello Files, which broke the original story, has confirmed that Mitch Pileggi will return to Supernatural in their upcoming sixth season as Joseph Campbell, grandfather to Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).

It seems that a veteran character actor could be reprising his brief guest-starring role in a popular CW series. Ausiello Files is reporting that Mitch Pileggi could return to Supernatural as the Winchester brothers' grandfather, Samuel Campbell.
Pileggi only appeared on one episode of the series, In the Beginning in Season 4, a flashback episode where Castiel (Misha Collins) sends Dean (Jensen Ackles) back to 1973 where he meets his grandfather, Samuel Campbell.
