Production wrapped last month on X-Men: Apocalypse, which begins the lengthy post-production process under the direction of Bryan Singer. While it may be quite some time before we see the first trailer, new cast member Olivia Munn took to her Instagram page to show off one last video of her training, with the actress showing off her impressive moves with a samurai sword. The actress said this was, "One last freestyle session for the road," meaning this may be the last of her training videos we see before the first trailer arrives.
Of course, this isn't the first time Olivia Munn has showed us her fighting skills. The actress has sent out numerous Instagram videos as production was under way in Montreal. Hopefully we get to see how the actress' sword fighting skills translate to the screen in the first trailer, but we're not sure when that will debut yet, and we don't know what footage the filmmakers plan on displaying. Still, regardless if she's in the trailer or not, Olivia Munn's character Psylocke will have an integral role in this superhero movie.Read More
How soon will it be before we see Olivia Munn facing off against Ronda Rousey on the big screen? Probably sometime in the very near future, if the latest X-Men: Apocalypse video is any indication. It was announced yesterday by director Bryan Singer that X-Men: Apocalypse has officially wrapped first unit shooting. And then shortly after, Olivia Munn released yet another behind-the-scenes video of her intense martial arts training. Why is she still doing this?
It appears the former talk show host-turned-actress is continuing to define and perfect her kick-ass kickboxing skills for future superhero movies. While it was thought that all the main actors had wrapped, perhaps she is being called in for some second unit shooting? Or she already knows that she is required to return for reshoots at some point in the future. Maybe, just maybe, she is going to keep perfecting the skills she learned on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, hoping to become this generation's Jean-Claude Van Damme? Most likely, it's all of the above.Read More
Old school fans of G4's Attack of the Show not only know Olivia Munn as a ravenous sex fiend, a personality trait which she proudly satirizes in the comedy Mortdecai, but she is also a hardcore nerd. So when she joined X-Men: Apocalypse it sounded like a perfect fit for the self-proclaimed comic book fanatic. She will be playing popular Mutant Psylocke in this latest X-Men franchise adventure. And it looks like she is really getting into the spirit of the character.
We've seen previous set video of Olivia Munn training for her role. Today, new intsagram video shows the actress swinging a sword and doing a backflip off a platform as she prepares for what will surely be a gigantic action set piece. We've already gotten a glimpse of Olivia Munn in her Psylocke costume in a set of photos released during Comic-Con, along with a Con exclusive trailer that introduced her on screen for the first time. Fans were much more accepting and excited about Psylocke's look in the movie than main villain Apocalypse. Some fans have been comparing him to Power Ranger's baddie Ivan Ooze.Read More
Because 20th Century Fox debuted the first X-Men: Apocalypse teaser trailer during Comic-Con last month, it's easy to forget that the franchise sequel is still shooting in Toronto. Director Bryan Singer will continue to work throughout the rest of August in bringing this Mutant adventure together. And while he's most notorious for showing off video and photos from his set, today, we get a sneak peek behind the scenes courtesy of one of the stars.
Olivia Munn is Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. And if we're to judge from this latest set video, she is a real ass-kicker. The actress displays her freestyle kickboxing skills, going at it hard enough to scare any blue Mutant away from messing with her. She is one of the new additions to the franchise, and will play an important role in the storyline.Read More
X-Men: Apocalypse is currently filming in Montreal, under the direction of Bryan Singer. The film closes out the X-Men trilogy that started with 2011's X-Men: First Class and continued with last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past, with the story set in 1983. While several cast members from the aforementioned two movies are returning, there are several new actors coming into the fold, including Olivia Munn as Psylocke. We haven't seen her in costume on the set yet, but the actress revealed a new video on her Instagram page, where she shows off her new swordplay skills.
We haven't seen many photos from the set lately, since production has moved indoors in Montreal, but hopefully we'll get our first official look at Olivia Munn in costume as Psylocke soon. The actress is seen practicing with a fake katana sword, the character's trademark weapons from the X-Men comics. We still don't know how she fits into the story yet, or how large of a role she will have.Read More
Director Bryan Singer revealed on his official Twitter and Instagram pages today that actress Olivia Munn has been cast in X-Men: Apocalypse as Betsy Braddock, a.k.a. Psylocke. The news comes just a few weeks after a report that producers were searching for the right actress to play Psylocke, but no contenders for the role were revealed. Olivia Munn joins a cast that also includes Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler}, Ben Hardy (Angel) and Lana Condor (Jubilee).
Betsy Braddock, a.k.a. Psylocke made her Marvel comics debut in Captain Britain #8 in 1976. She ultimately ended up taking over as Captain Britain from her twin brother in 1986, and made her debut as Psylocke in 1987's Uncanny X-Men #213. Her primary mutant ability is that she can form a katana blade through her fists by using telekinesis. She also has precognitive powers and is immune to telepathic probes and attacks on her mind. After swapping powers with Jean Grey, she also gained the ability to create force field, move objects with her mind and generate blades of energy. It remains to be seen which of these powers will be put on display in X-Men: Apocalypse. Psylocke had a brief appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand, played by Mei Melançon.Read More
