‘Carrie’ Adds Portia Doubleday

Actress Portia Doubleday has signed on to star in the MGM Studios remake Carrie for director Kimberly Peirce.

The actress will play bad girl Chris Hargensen, who torments the title character, played by Chloe Moretz. Carrie's telekinetic abilities are harnessed after Hargensen pulls a cruel prom night prank. Chris Hargensen was played by Nancy Allen in the original Carrie.

With Anton Yelchin already set to star as the title character Odd Thomas, casting has been focused on finding the female lead. Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings, Lily Collins, Portia Doubleday, and Addison Timlin are among the top candidates to portray Stormy Llewellyn, Thomas' girlfriend.

The story centers on Anton Yelchin's Thomas, a short-order cook who has the strange ability to see the dead. Although he cannot communicate with the dead, he tries to help them with their problems. Things take a bizarre turn, though, when Thomas meets a shady stranger who has ties to evil supernatural forces.
