Who would you vote for? Hillary Rodham Clinton? Or Elle Woods? While it's still up for debate about how likely it is we'll see Clinton in the White House, Wood might be taking the presidential oath sooner than later, if Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon has her way about it. Appearing on a recent episode of Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe, the actress said she wants to do Legally Blonde 3. And she doesn't think there is a better time than right now.
As of this moment, MGM has not announced plans for Legally Blonde 3. But this is a good way to get the conversation moving. If fans show enough interest, it will happen. And Sony is currently in need of a franchise hit. The first movie, which was released in 2001, was a smash with audiences, and pulled in a stellar $141 million worldwide from just an $18 million budget. While the second movie wasn't such a big hit, and garnered some very harsh reviews, it did manage to pull in a $124 million gross off a $45 million budget, proving to still be a lucrative endeavor. Along with the direct-to-DVD spinoff Legally Blondes, which starred twins Milly Rosso and Becky Rosso, the movie also spawned a successful Broadway musical. While there are no current plans for Legally Blonde 3, it doesn't sound so far fetched.Read More
Reese Witherspoon has signed on to star in and produce Disney's Tink, a live action version of the classic Tinkerbell character. The project was originally developed by Disney several years ago, with Elizabeth Banks initially attached to star, but now Reese Witherspoon is taking over as the beloved Peter Pan character. No director is attached at this time, but Disney has brought on Victoria Strouse (Finding Nemo, Finding Dory) to write the screenplay.
No story details were given, but insiders claim it will "play with the idea and the timeline" of the Peter Pan narrative. The project is being developed in the same vein as Disney's 2014 hit Maleficent, conceived as "the story you don't know" that gives fans a new perspective on Tink. Unlike the big-budget Maleficent, Tink is targeting a mid-range budget. It's worth noting that 20th Century Fox is also developing their own Untitled Tinker Bell Project, which has Melissa McCarthy attached to star as the title character and Shawn Levy set to direct.Read More
Hot Pursuit may be corning the market on fun mindless comedies this summer, and judging from the two new trailers released today, it will be a surprise hit. Especially considering both of its main stars, Sofía Vergara and Reese Witherspoon are so beloved. Here, they seem to have that perfect kind of chemistry that makes a movie like this something really special.
This latest trailer, which comes in both a domestic and U.K. version, proves that Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon isn't the only woman with a mean Justin Bieber impression. Reese Witherspoon, who goes back to her Southern roots playing an extremely petite and air-headed Texas cop, must go undercover as the teen pop idol. But that's not the only disguise her and co-star Sofía Vergara have to take on to evade both a corrupt police force and the cartel. The pair find themselves posing as a deer (or is it a horse?), a romantic couple and Mexican folk dancers.Read More
Some cinema snobs may write off the upcoming comedy Hot Pursuit as trash, but judging from the trailer, this fast-paced action caper has everything needed to make it a gigantic hit when it arrives early this summer. We have the first poster, which pairs odd couple Sofía Vergara and Reese Witherspoon for the first, but probably not the last, time. We've also got another look at the trailer in case you missed it the first time around.
Hot Pursuit was released May 8th, 2015.Read More
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer and photos from Hot Pursuit, which was previously just known as the Untitled Reese Witherspoon/Sofia Vergara Film. As you can see from the footage below, Hot Pursuit is certainly a fitting title. The story follows an uptight and by-the-book cop (Reese Witherspoon) who tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (Sofía Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen.
The supporting cast is rounded out by John Carroll Lynch, Robert Kazinsky, Michael Mosley, Richard T. Jones and Mike Birbiglia. While Sofía Vergara is certainly no stranger to the comedy genre, after starring in Modern Family and last year's indie hit Chef, it seems like quite awhile since we've seen Reese Witherspoon in a comedy, after critically-acclaimed performances in dramas such as Wild and Inherent Vice.Read More
Reese Witherspoon has signed on to follow up her critically-acclaimed performance in Wild with Downsizing. Ironically, the actress was initially attached way back in 2009 when we first reported on the project. Paul Giamatti and Sacha Baron Cohen were also attached to star at the time for director Alexander Payne, but it never moved forward, as the filmmaker went on to make Best Picture nominee The Descendants just a few years later. Matt Damon signed on to star back in November, playing a man who believes his life would be far better off if he shrunk himself, in what is described as a social satire.
Back in 2009, Reese Witherspoon was set to play a woman who met the shrinking man, then played by Paul Giamatti. It isn't known if she will still play the same role in this incarnation. Deadline reports that timing may be an issue with Reese Witherspoon, since this project will have to wait until after Matt Damon films his Untitled Bourne Sequel for Universal Pictures.Read More
